Grammar Way Book 2
Grammar Way Book 2 is the second level of the Grammar Way series: the grammar reference and practice course for pre-intermediate to intermediate learners, where English grammar stops being a set of fragments and becomes a system.
The series’ formula is at work — the rule laid out in clear theory boxes and tables, then practised in exercise after exercise — now across the expanding verb system: the past and perfect tenses in contrast, futures, the first conditionals, the passive in its common tenses, modals in their families, and the comparisons and quantifiers that stock everyday speech.
It is written for learners at A2–B1, their teachers, and self-teachers climbing the series: the level where the student’s English becomes accurate enough to trust, and interesting enough to keep.

Book 2 is where Grammar Way’s climb steepens pleasantly. The elementary machinery of Book 1 — present tenses, the noun, the question — is assumed known, and the book’s pages go to the contrasts that intermediate English is made of: past simple against present perfect, will against going to, must against have to, the passive appearing first as a necessity of real texts. The theory spreads keep their celebrated clarity, a rule never longer than its understanding requires, and the exercises do the deepening — recognition, transformation, completion, and production, in sets long enough that the structure is still there in the morning. With its answer key, the book serves the classroom as a homework engine and the lone learner as a patient tutor; its revision units bind each stretch of the climb before the next. Learners finish Book 2 measurably changed: their English has tenses with intentions now, and the confidence that comes of knowing why a sentence is right.

About This Book
Grammar Way teaches English grammar by the oldest reliable method — explain it clearly, then practise it thoroughly — and Book 2 is the series’ intermediate storey: the structures on which all later fluency is built, delivered in the same theory-and-practice architecture that made the series a classroom standard.
What Learners Will Study
The Tense Contrasts
Past simple against present perfect, the perfect progressive arriving, past perfect in narrative, and the futures — will, going to, present continuous — learned as contrasts, because at this level English is chosen between near-neighbours, not recalled as single forms.
Conditionals, Modals and the Passive
The zero, first and second conditionals with their time logic; the modal families — ability, obligation, permission, deduction in embryo — and the passive voice in its working tenses, met first where real English actually needs it.
The Sentence’s Furniture
Comparatives and superlatives in depth, quantifiers counted and uncounted, articles at their trickiest, prepositions of time, place and movement, and the relative clauses that let a sentence carry its own explanation.
Key Features
The contrast method is the feature: structures taught in the pairs and families in which learners confuse them. The theory-box clarity is the second, and the practice depth the third — sets long enough to make the form a habit, with the answer key making every set self-scoring.
Who This Book Is For
It is for pre-intermediate and intermediate learners (A2–B1), students moving toward preliminary and first examinations, teachers of the middle levels, and self-teachers continuing from Book 1 or entering the series at their level.
How to Use This Book
Keep the series’ rhythm: read the theory spread actively, pencil in hand; work the exercises in order; check with the key only when a set is finished; and write the errors into a notebook by structure — by Book 2’s end that notebook is a personal map of exactly what to revise. Speak the example sentences aloud; grammar at this level is preparing to become conversation.
