Interchange Workbook 2
Interchange Workbook 2 is the practice workbook for Level 2 of Interchange, the English course by Jack C. Richards published by Cambridge University Press. It is made to be used with the Interchange 2 Student’s Book, following the same units in the same order, so that the language presented in class is practised again in writing.
The exercises cover the grammar, vocabulary, and functions of the level: learners consolidate the tenses and structures they have been introduced to, build vocabulary around each unit’s topic, and complete short reading and writing tasks. Level 2 is aimed at learners who can already handle simple everyday English and are building toward confident intermediate communication.
Teachers usually set the workbook as homework after each class unit; learners studying on their own can use it as a steady revision programme for the whole level.

Interchange Workbook 2 accompanies Level 2 of the Interchange course (Cambridge University Press) by Jack C. Richards, written for adult and young adult learners of English. The Student’s Book presents new language in class through listening, speaking, and reading; the Workbook supplies the written practice that fixes it — grammar exercises, vocabulary work, and short reading and writing tasks that match the main book unit by unit. This pairing of presentation and practice is what makes the workbook a standard companion to the course: nothing in it is out of step with the lessons, and every unit of classwork has a corresponding set of exercises for homework or self-study.

About This Book
Interchange, written by Jack C. Richards and published by Cambridge University Press, is a four-level English course (Intro, 1, 2, and 3) used in language schools around the world. Each level pairs a Student’s Book with a Workbook. Interchange Workbook 2 supports the second level of the course, where learners move from basic survival English toward fuller intermediate communication, and it provides the written half of that work.
What Learners Practise
Grammar Practice
Every unit of the workbook rehearses the grammar of the corresponding Student’s Book unit — the main tenses, question forms, comparisons, and sentence patterns of the level — through completion, correction, and sentence-building exercises tied to realistic situations.
Vocabulary Building
Topic vocabulary from each unit is practised in context: word groups, common collocations, and short texts help learners remember new items and use them accurately in their own sentences.
Reading and Writing
Short reading passages with comprehension questions and brief guided writing tasks give learners practice in the literacy side of the course, balancing the listening and speaking emphasis of classroom lessons.
Key Features
The unit-by-unit match with the Student’s Book is the workbook’s main strength: homework can be assigned by unit number, and self-study learners always know exactly which exercises belong to the lesson they have just finished. Exercise formats vary to keep practice from becoming mechanical, and the content is written for adult and young adult learners.
Who This Workbook Is For
It is intended for learners enrolled on, or self-studying, Interchange Level 2 — typically intermediate students in language institutes, colleges, and workplace English programmes — and for their teachers, who need homework material that tracks the course precisely.
How to Use This Workbook
Work through each workbook unit shortly after studying the same unit in the Student’s Book. If an exercise exposes a weak point, revisit that grammar section in the main book before moving on; the two books are designed to be used in this alternating way.
Related Books
Learners who complete this level can continue with Interchange Workbook 3, the practice book for the final level of the course. For additional grammar exercises at a comparable level, the English World Grammar Practice Book 5 is a useful companion.
